Moloka' Hoe 2008

We had a challenging and fun Molokai channel crossing this year. Even though half our team hadn't paddled with the other half, we blended nicely. Swells were 4-6 foot and we got some nice multiple swell pushes for some of the longest rides I've had. Our time was 6:05 for 60th place. Plenty of pictures in my gallery and the Raw Picture folder
Results and Articles are online too.

Rigging. The result was perfect. The canoe felt great the entire crossing. It was styling too with the Kikaha "Manu" blue skirts as they matched the ama and the blue waters of the channel.

Ant and Galen - the two virgins of the channel. They performed awesomely.

Coach Lance letting us know how the canoe handles on swells when he has to poke right.

The pule for the start of the race - the gladiators getting ready for the battle.

One of many swells we connected together for long runs.

Big waters. This shot was hard to take since I have to take the picture, stow the camera and then jump into the water - in about a minute.

Charging hard.

More with myself included.

Diamond Head

Al and Lance. Al steered for an hour and Lance the rest of the time.

Strong team.

Mokes Molokai Warmup

Pete, Jaimie, and myself got a nice 2+ hour paddle into Bellows bay and small-kine surf at the Mokes. Good fun, beautiful waters! Now off to Molokai for the Sunday race. More photos here. I read that Bellows was closed right after we went by since they found a buried torpedo. Wow.
